New Year, New Updates

Hello, and welcome to 2021!

The greeting is a couple of days late, but the sentiment is the same. How has everyone been doing? Have you all had good holidays? Have you all been safe and practicing social distancing? (Please remember that we’re still in a pandemic and please stay safe, wash hands, and wear masks.)

My holidays were good, but I unfortunately caught COVID-19 due to my job, which put a wrench in my plans. No worries, though; I’m feeling much better than I have been! I’ve been confined to my bedroom and I’ve been loaded up on sinus medicine, cold medicine, cough drops, and vitamin supplements.

One important thing to note is to stay hydrated! Drink water, Gatorade, and anything that can keep you hydrated, which can include hydration packets. I’m sad to say that there was one really bad day where–although I had been drinking the same amount I usually did–I was horribly dehydrated and nearly passed out more than once. It took me almost three days to recover after drinking something at least once every hour per day.

While I was at home recovering, I was busy thinking about what I wanted to do for Kanna Ree in 2021. There were so many things that I wanted to change, so many posts that I wanted to create, and so many ways I wanted to reach out to other creators for the year. It’s not good to think about work when you’re supposed to resting, but after a while the usual things that are interesting no longer catch anyone’s attention.

This year is the year where Kanna Ree changes and grows. It’s the year that everything gets better for the blog, and I’m claiming that.

While we’re working on those changes, I hope that you noted that a couple of things have already changed with the website! First off, the menu has changed. I’ve made it a bit more streamlined and easier to use, as well as created a separate page for updates. If there are any updates, it will be placed there.

There is also a new contact page that details what I’m open for and how to contact me. If I close down anything (such as reading requests), it will be noted on the Contacts page.

Whew. That was a lot, but I plan to do more this year! The website will slowly go through an overhaul and I will continue to update my socials (sadly, they’re lacking). As someone who wants a career in the publishing and entertainment field, those things are very important to have and keep up to date. Please stick with me as we grow on this journey. If there are any posts that you’d like to see from me, please comment below!

In the past year, there has been a lot going on and 2021 is going to be no different. The world is changing and we have to adapt. Here are a few things that have happened and that you should be aware of:

  • A 6.4 earthquake hit Croatia on December 29, 2020 and people are still recovering. There have been aftershocks after the initial earthquake.
  • The Phillipines has banned travelers from twenty different countries due to COVID-19. The ban on U.S. citizens ends on January 15, 2021.
  • There is now a trans suicide hotline! TRANS LIFELINE: 877-565-8860 (U.S.) and 877-330-6366 (Canada)
  • Not everyone will be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine early. There are many countries that will not receive the necessary amount of supplies for the vaccine anytime soon, but India recently approved two COVID-19 vaccines.

Please donate to various issues if possible! If you are unable to donate, be sure to spread the word! When donating or providing assistance, be sure to do adequate research before doing anything. Sadly, people tend to use tragedy as a way to scam others and that should be prevented. When donating, note the total amount of percentages that go to the affected communities. Not all organizations are ethical when it comes to donations.
