Hello, all and welcome back to Kanna Reads! If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been a bit absent, and it’s because I lost a bit of inspiration, motivation, and also I went on vacation. But don’t worry! There’s bookish content coming in the next two weeks.
This month marks two years that Kanna Reads has been a website. At first, it was called Wordy Girl Blues and mostly focused on book reviews and the like. For the last two years, one or two blog posts have been going up every month regarding what I’ve been reading and things related to reading.
After a few months, I rebranded Wordy Girl Blues, a side blog, and also a YouTube channel into one large thing: Kanna Ree. Kanna was a nickname from childhood while Ree is the last syllable of my middle name. Both websites and my channel are under the brand. Kanna Ree was the name of my channel, Wordy Girl Blues became Kanna Reads, and my side blog became Kanna Scribbles.
Since then, I’ve been struggling with content and keeping an actual schedule. I don’t know what other people are saying, but content creation is hard. It requires concentration, a clear head, research, and detail—things that I have been struggling with, as all of this is essentially hobby work as I work full-time and (hopefully) try to join an IT class at my local community college.
All in all, it’s been stressful.
When I went on vacation in late August (literally two weeks before Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas), I had no access to the Internet and had to download books and shows to keep me entertained.
For the most part, I was content. I was well-rested, enjoying my life, and not worrying about blogging or filming something for YouTube. I felt good. I ate, I drank, I read some good (and okay) novels, and danced to Motown music. The main part (besides resting) is that I did was read. And I read without feeling like I needed to update the world on what I was reading and how I felt about the books. Of course, when I returned, I posted a short video on YouTube about the books that I read and how I felt about them, but that was it, because after that came me working and being exhausted as well as Hurricane Dorian.
It’s been a struggle to write since then, and come up with new ideas. It’s hard enough writing this update, but I wanted to let everyone who follows Kanna Reads know what was going on, and keep myself accountable. For now, I’m still resting for a bit, but I am gathering new ideas for this blog as well as my channel, and I hope to update everyone again soon.
If you’ve finished the article, thank you and please do what you can to help the victims of the hurricane.
