Hello, it’s been a while.
I’ll try to explain my absence in a later post.
It’s been a while since I’ve contributed to Wordy Girl Blues, and I realized that in not keeping up with the personal schedule I set for myself, I missed out on possible opportunities in my absence. In the last couple of months, I kept coming back to this website and kept feeling like something was missing, like this page was messy and unorganized and unkempt.
Looking through other pages and doing a little bit of soul-searching brought me to an answer.
I was missing consistency and focus.
When I first created this page, I wanted this to be a place where I could be a jack of all trades. Book reviews? I could do it. Writing? Let me showcase it here. Pop culture analysis? Let’s put that down here, too. But looking back, I don’t know what I was thinking. I never came up with an update schedule, I never sat down and planned what was going onto this page, and I didn’t do what I needed to keep it running. So that’s what I’m planning to do now.
Here are my future plans.
Update schedule: every 1-2 weeks. In that time, I plan to get books (they may be free, older, or recently released), read them, and get a review done in all of that time.
Focus: like having a focus in college, I’m going to have a focus on this page. All writing that is on this website is coming down and all that will remain are book reviews and things related to the publishing industry. Occasionally I will post an analysis of the book industry, but for the most part, this page will be for reviews.
Format: I now hate the format of how I review books. At heart, I love telling people why Iove and hate books, and I feel as if it doesn’t translate with my reviewing format on the website. The previous format will stay the same on books that I’ve already reviewed, but newer reviews will be different.
That being said, I know that I promised reviews on The Hate U Give (T.H.U.G) and Rebel of the Sands. They are still in the making. I have to reread T.H.U.G. because there are things that I missed, and Rebel of the Sands is in the works.
